Junior to Senior

This isn't your typical DevOps role. You'll have a unique, dual-focus position that offers unparalleled variety and growth:

• In-House Innovator: You will be a core member of the team building, automating, and securing the very infrastructure that powers ScaleCity. You'll work on our cloud based platforms (mainly Google and OVH) , perfect our CI/CD pipelines, and implement cutting-edge observability and security practices. This is your lab, your proving ground.
• Expert Consultant: You will take the best practices we develop internally and apply them to the real world. You'll parachute into our clients' environments for short-term, high-impact consultancy projects (typically 2-8 weeks). You might be designing a startup's first Kubernetes cluster, migrating a legacy application to the cloud, or automating a complex deployment process for an enterprise client

This hybrid model means you'll never be bored. You'll solidify your expertise by building for yourself and accelerate your learning by solving diverse challenges for others.

What you'll do:

• Design, build, and maintain our core infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
• Automate everything, from CI/CD pipelines to security monitoring and incident response.
• Champion DevOps and SRE best practices both internally and with our clients.
• Engage in short-term client projects: quickly assess their needs, architect robust solutions, and implement them hands-on.
• Secure our cloud environments by implementing DevSecOps principles and tooling.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, logging, and observability stacks to ensure system health and performance.

The core foundation (everyone):

• A deep-seated passion for automation and building elegant, scalable systems. Always keeping security top of mind.

• Good communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. Working together with developers is part of our day to day.
• A relentless curiosity and a desire to learn new technologies. Technical Skills (Let us know where you are on your journey).
• Cloud Platforms: You have hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Senior candidates will have deep, multi-project expertise in one or more.
• Infrastructure as Code: You understand why this is important. Juniors may have tinkered, while Seniors can architect complex, modular, and reusable codebases.
• Containers & Orchestration: You understand Docker and its ecosystem. You have experience with or a strong desire to master Kubernetes (K8s). Senior candidates have managed production K8s clusters.
• CI/CD: You have experience building or maintaining deployment pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.
• Scripting & Programming: You are proficient in at least one language for automation, such as Python, Go, or Bash.
• Proficient in Dutch and English.
• Driver's license or plans to obtain one.

For Senior/Lead Candidates, You Also Bring:

• A proven track record of architecting and leading complex infrastructure projects.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and a passion for elevating the team.
• Client-facing or consulting experience is a huge plus.

Bonus Points:

• Certifications like CKA/CKAD, or AWS/GCP/Azure equivalents.
• Experience with service mesh (e.g., Istio, Linkerd), GitOps (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux), or policy-as-code (e.g., OPA).
• A strong understanding of network security, IAM, and DevSecOps principles.
• Passion for Open Source projects.
